Nyonya Assam is a type of sour-based curry traditionally cooked in Nyonya households. It is also commonly served in Nyonya restaurants. By tradition, it is usually cooked with fish. In Penang, it is usually cooked with stingray. It has a close resemblance to the gravy of Laksa. This could be attributed to the lemon grass and the slight sourness.
Compared to curry chicken, it is slightly sour and refreshing due the different spices used, so don't be surprise if there's no sauce left at the end of the meal.
LZJ ASSAM FISH PASTE is one of our favorite dishes. Just talking about it and thinking about the spicy sour taste gets the saliva going in the mouth.
